The weather in the Middle East becomes pleasantly cool from October to January, making it an ideal time for families to engage in outdoor activities like beach fun, lawn barbecues, outdoor picnics, shopping, horse riding, water parks, desert safaris, and park visits. With this in mind, I decided to take my family to Burj Al Arab beach early in the morning. We left right after the morning prayer and spent three enjoyable hours at the beach.
On our way back, I noticed a gentleman struggling to start his car by connecting his car's battery to another car's battery. He had screwdrivers in hand and was checking the connections in the engine. I offered to help him and suggested using my battery-connecting cable instead of his thin one, which couldn't provide enough power to start the car. We tried the thicker cable, and the car started immediately. The gentleman, an Area Manager of a mobile phone company, thanked me gratefully as he had been trying to start his car for an hour, and my small act of help made a big difference.
From this experience, I suggest the following advice if you find yourself in a similar situation:
- Ensure your battery connecting cable is thick enough to start the car. A thin cable might not work, and you could end up needing a tow service.
- Check the battery's indicating color. If it's green, your battery is fine; if it's gray, it needs to be replaced or recharged. The color codes may vary, so read the battery's instructions.
- Sometimes, battery terminals become weak or dry, preventing the car from starting. A gentle tap on the terminals with a hammer or another solid object (while the engine is off) can restore contact.
- If your car is insured, call the insurance company, as many provide free roadside assistance for battery problems, tire punctures, and other emergencies.
Aside from the technical tips, I learned that small acts of kindness can significantly impact someone's life. Never underestimate the value of a small deed, as you may become a crucial help to someone and receive their gratitude and blessings. So, always seize the opportunity to show kindness and love.
If you visit Dubai in the winter, I highly recommend an early morning trip to the beach. It will be a refreshing and energizing experience, just as it was for me.
